Unseen

The project concerns the ground-floor apartment of a two-story residence from the 1960s, located in the Lofos Sikellias area in Kallithea.

The architectural approach aimed to preserve the character of the residence through subtle interventions, emphasizing its relationship with the garden and enhancing natural lighting. The reconfiguration of the kitchen was a key element of the design, reducing its visual presence and creating a unified and functionally cohesive space.

Morphological elements of the original residence—such as curves and decorative breeze blocks—are repeated in the design, contributing to a dialogue between the old and the new.

To enhance natural light, the kitchen opening was widened, and new glass-block openings were introduced in the bathroom and at the entrance, allowing light to diffuse while maintaining privacy. The color palette is based on earthy tones, preserving a sense of calmness and naturalness throughout the space, while in the bathroom, the blue tiles evoke an aquatic atmosphere.
