Pop Up project

The renovation concerns a typical apartment from the 1960s in the neighborhood of Zografou, near Ilisia. The apartment is used as a second residence for a family with two young children who live abroad. It was renovated to meet the needs of its residents.

The 100 m² apartment, with three bedrooms, was redesigned with the central idea of preserving elements from the 1960s and harmonizing them with the new additions while maintaining the style of the era.

At the entrance of the residence, a furniture piece functioning as a wardrobe and storage space was designed using metal elements and glass. This construction, with its curved shape, leads us into the interior of the house and defines the living areas from the bedrooms and kitchen. The semi-transparent glass creates a play of light and reflection, and its retro design is combined with the intense burgundy color of the mosaic floor.

A new addition to the space is the WC, located near the entrance, where the vertical mirror beside the sink extends the play of reflections.

In the corridor, the bathrooms, and the kitchen, vibrant colors were used, inspired by the palette of the mosaics in order to highlight them and create a warm atmosphere in the space. In the living room and the bedrooms, where there are wooden floors, softer pastel tones were used.

In the bathrooms, mosaic tiles were selected as a continuation of the existing floors.

In the kitchen, the white marble sink and part of the white marble countertop and cabinets were preserved, while the new additions were made from Tinos marble in order to emphasize the contrast between the old and the new.
