Loopa
The main source of inspiration for the creation of the aerial acrobatics training space was the sense of freedom and the perpetual movement of the body on the silks, combined with the analysis of the name “Loopa” — repetitive movement — loop.
The ground floor consists of a double-height area where athletes can be safely suspended, and a lower section that simultaneously functions as a reception area, a warm-up space, or a viewing area for the audience during performances.
The existing circular staircase leads both to the mezzanine, which operates as a secondary gym space, and to the basement, which houses the athletes’ changing rooms and bathroom. A bold color was selected for the staircase in order to symbolically reinforce the concept of the loop.
The lines of the custom metal suspension structure on the ceiling, as well as those of the new metal façade of the mezzanine, derive from the existing lines of the main façade, maintaining the principle of repetitive movement throughout the space.
The floor plan is open, and only the floor colors, the variations in ceiling heights, and the lighting mark the changes in use.
The hybrid furniture element on the ground floor functions simultaneously as a reception desk and storage unit, while its detachable stools serve as seating, exercise elements, etc..
