FIX
The doctor brought to the table the “ingredients” that would weave the new space of therapy: her perspective on the concept of healing, her logo (the spinning top), her grandmother’s embroideries as traces of her personal experience, and a painting depicting the womb as the center of birth.
The analysis and reinterpretation of these elements led to the design of a space that highlights the doctor’s story and personal journey, while also becoming the “spatial” stimulus for the patient to reflect on and follow their own path.
The concept of the spinning top was chosen to structure the spatial narrative, and the individual areas of the clinic were interpreted through a psychoanalytic perspective.
The “traces of the spinning top’s unfolding” are expressed through wooden slats on the walls, creating a sense of continuous flow. These constructions connect the spaces and define the design of the furniture, the placement of the textiles, and the overall color palette of the interior. Shades of olive green were selected for the clinic, a color associated with calmness and serenity.
Handmade knitting represents a gesture of care and affection. Old and new handcrafts are highlighted as objects of art and symbolize the dynamic relationship between doctor and patient.
Custom display structures made of wood and plexiglass were designed to showcase the grandmother’s knitted pieces. At the same time, three new knitted works were created by the weaver Maria Zilakou, symbolizing the “other” weaving—the emotional offering and personal expression of the patient.
