Description

The access to the site happen from the local road. We are located at the village of Malaki, between the local road and the coastline.We divide the building on three apartments. Every apartment has a direct relationship on the sea.

CONCEPT-SENSES / GREEK SUMMER

The sun of the greek summer is extremely strong. We need a place to be protected. At the same time we want to keep the contact with the sea. The greek summer is fool of play with the light and the shadows. When we are in a place like this, we are all the time unshod. We walk between the sea and the house. We feel the materials.
From the seaside, we propose to build a bench in continuity with the exterior. So when we get in the house a hug welcomes us. This benche is like a basement. It is used as sofa/bed, as stairs, base of the closet . From the main entrance of the apartment we keep the optic axis clear toward the exterior and the sea.
We have the frame of the widow in form of arc. That gives us a particular view and a way to let the light to get in.
The main floor is paving stones from the region of Pilion and is designed with ceramiques elements inside so that creates a play of colors and senses.
At the mezzanine we are in a nest. We can take our siesta and have a regard of the outside.This level has no real walls. We propose a construction which allows seeing downstairs but at the same time protecting us and enforce the play with the shadows. We propose a skylight at the roof.As we are in a nest we change the material. At this level the wood is the surface that we walk in.
