The central idea is build on the word afrina, the premium salt that we collect in the salterns of the region of Mani at Peloponnese. Afrina is created during the afternoon when the air evaporates the water. Salt of the earth! Then we played with the words and the connotations.

CRYSTALS – SALTERNS in raster grid– SALTERNS in natural rock – TRANSPARENCY – PURITY Raster grid is the imaginary grid of dots or straight segments which is drawn on material intended for drawing. The construction of the bar play the main role in the space, is a big crystal, a shining symbol.

The bar is expanding inside the building and also outside and makes the connexion. All around the bar are developed the salterns defined by a 3*3 orthonormal raster grid. This raster grid determines the location of the seating positions, the heights of the levels created as well as the position of the awnings. Our main concerns was the integration of the project into the natural environment.
